The Puntland Youth Conference was recently held in the city of Galkayo, in the Mudug region, bringing together young people from across Puntland to discuss key issues including youth employment, skills development, and the broader role of youth in the region’s development.
The two-day forum was attended by government officials, subject matter experts, and a wide range of youth representatives from various districts. The objective of the conference was to explore meaningful ways to empower young people and enhance their contribution to Puntland’s economic, social, and political advancement.
Among the notable participants was Mr. Hanad Ali Jama Hikmaawi, Head of the Production Department at the Office of Media and Communications of the Puntland Parliament. Mr. Hanad delivered an inspiring keynote speech focusing on the role of media in amplifying youth voices, promoting youth-led innovation, and supporting efforts to create opportunities for young people across the region.
In his remarks, Mr. Hanad emphasized that youth are the backbone of Puntland’s future and must be given the space, support, and resources necessary to thrive. He also reaffirmed the Parliament’s commitment to partnering with youth and using media as a platform to showcase their potential and contributions.
The conference concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration between government institutions, development partners, and youth organizations, with the aim of fostering an inclusive and opportunity-rich environment for Puntland’s young generation.
